10-02-16
Today at break times I played with Aimee H, Ayesha, Caitlyn K, Katelynn and Lara. We played Hide and Seek around the whole school. It was a bit tricky trying to find people around the whole school! It didn’t take too long because we were hiding in pairs or groups. Aimee H, Katelynn and I hid behind Room 18, we then hid behind the wooden outline of the fitness trail, then we ran to the tunnel on the big fort, we moved from there and walked along the walkway and we then got found!

11-02-16
Today at lunchtime I played with Ayesha on the big fort. We had some fun on some of the equipment there. We went around in a circle on the equipment, having a go at some of the equipment.

15-02-16
Today, at lunchtime, I played with Ella and Kaede.  We played with some of the little kids from Room 15 and 16.  We played with them on the big field.  We piggy-backed the little kids.  The little kids liked us spinning them around as well.

17-02-16
Today, at lunchtime, I played with Alejandra, Larissa, Kyra and Charlotte on the big fort.  We did some backflips on the ropes. It was the first time that I had done a backflip on these ropes.  It sometimes hurt your arms when you twist them around.  I watched them do it and copied them and I soon got it.
When I asked them for a turn, they were kind and I didn’t even have to wait long for my turn.

18-02-16
Today at morning tea Millah and I played on the ropes and did some backflips! We had a lot of fun! I was telling Millah how to do a backflip because she has never done one before! She soon got it and was enjoying it! When I had completed my backflip I sometimes fell off either in front of the rope or behind it! Millah was also shaking the rope and I had to hold on and try not to fall off!

23-02-16
Today at lunchtime I played with Aimee H, we played on the grey spinning circles on the big fort. It was my first time getting across to the other end. When I came back to the platform I was about to get on again and Aimee was as well. She said I could go first. We also played on the ropes. I did some backflips and I was also teaching Aimee to do one as well.

25-02-16
Today I played with Aimee H, we got some stilts out from the PE shed. On the stilts we went to the littlefield area. She was kind to me by waiting for me and we had a bit of a laugh. The hooter went so we had to go and put the stilts back.

29-02-16
Today I played with Aimee H at lunchtime. We got some stilts out and went around the school. This morning I gave her an invitation to my birthday party so we were talking a bit about that.

3-03-16
Today I played with Aimee H at lunchtime. I had the idea of going and getting a piece of paper and pencil case so that we could make up a plan. Our plan was to get to the middle grey spinning circles without touching the first one. She sat on the platform and I got onto her shoulders then she took me to the middle one. I had to reach and try and grab it. She gave me the idea of her sitting on the platform because before that she was standing on the ground.

07-03-16
Today at lunchtime I played with Aimee H and Jessica B. Aimee got a hula-hoop out from the P.E shed. We all got inside the hula-hoop and ran in a direction. It hurt your hips a bit when you are trying to pull it the other way. We were kind by letting Millah, Skylah and Nova H have a turn at getting inside the hula-hoop and having a run around inside it before the hooter went.

10-03-16
Today I went to Aimee’s house for a play date after school. We went on our scooters/bikes around the crescent, coloured in our Easter colouring-in from the supermarket, did an Easter Hunt at the supermarket, listened to some music on the TV, also played on her trampoline. On the trampoline we tried to do some forward handsprings. When we listened to music one of the songs she chose was the ‘Cup Song’ by Anna Kendrick. We got out a cup each and did the Cup Song with the cups! She let me chose what I wanted to do next.

19-03-16
Today Aimee came to my house for my birthday party. The theme was Fear Factor. All the kids came dressed in black clothes. We all had to eat some gross foods. If we ate one of the gross foods we got a sticker on our brave-o-meter. Heaps of us got a lot of stickers on our brave-o-meter. Aimee gave me bunchems for a present. They are little circles that you put together to make a ladybird.

For the last 4 Thursdays Aimee and I have been going to choir together.

This is my diary to show when I have played with a new friend!

11-02-16                                                                                                                                                                                                            Every Thursday I go to Piano Lessons! My teacher is Kate! This week I learnt how to play the A minor scale and triad. The A minor scale is different to a major scale because it has a sharp (black note) played in it! The C major scale that I am playing at the moment as well doesn’t have a sharp (black note) in it! I also learning a C triad! I am learning to play a song called Go for the Gold! When you start learning a song it is a bit tricky but then after practising for a while it becomes easier! Go for the Gold is the last song in Book 2! I am also practising an Irish song called Jig! I am working on speeding up the tempo (speed). This song has a very fast tempo (speed). It is easier to learn the correct speed by listening to the CD which came with the book! Hopefully next week I am on Book 3!

18-02-16
Today I learnt 3 new songs and now I am onto Book 3! The new songs I got are called Tomcat, Sleepy John and Roaring Lions! The songs at the start of the book are easy but Kate said the songs will get harder as the book goes on! The songs are all little ones but you have to repeat them all! I also have to try and memorize Jig! Once I have memorized the whole song that means that I can play it when my family want to hear a song that I know! I also still have to play the C major scale and triad and the A minor scale and triad as well!

25-02-16
Today I learnt 2 new songs they are called On a Wintry Day and The London Bridge. Kate told me about the piano exams and said I could do them later on in the year if I want to. She gave me a booklet about the pieces that I have to learn for the exams.

3-03-16
Today I learnt the other half of On a Wintry Day.The other half of On a Wintry Day is more complicated than the first half. When I played the first half of the song Kate said that she liked it. I learnt a new song called The Stroke of Midnight. I will have to learn to keep it legato (smooth) because it is new and tricky. I also have to play the C major scale as well as the A minor scale and triad.

10-03-16
Today for Piano Lessons I learnt the other half of The Stroke of Midnight. It is pretty short but quite hard. I have also got to practice the dynamics (to play the notes softly and loudly)in On a Wintry Day. My scales and triads I have to practice for my warm-up are A minor and C major. All of the pieces that I am playing are from the booklet for the exams.

17-03-16
Today I learnt a new song called Spring Day, it is a pretty easy one even though it looks tricky. I have to also practice the dynamics in On a Wintry Day, and the speed in The Stroke of Midnight. I have to practice the A minor and C major scales and triads.
31-03-16
Today I learnt how to play a new song called March Time. It is a bit tricky but pretty easy. I also have to practice Spring Day, The Stroke of Midnight and On a Wintry Day. For Spring Day I have to remember to hold the ties(the same notes that are joint). The scales and triads I have to practice are A minor and C major.

07-04-16
Kate is away today so did not have my piano lesson.

This is my diary to show what I have learnt at Piano Lessons!

I looked up the internet and found this gift idea on Pinterest. I found a pattern and traced around it onto material then we cut out the patterns. Mum’s friend Wendy helped me sew it all together on the sewing machine. I did most of the sewing and ironing by myself. Mum stitched on the eyes, nose and mouth. When I had finished I filled it with mini chocolate eggs. I am going to give it to Dad. looked up the internet and found this gift idea on Pinterest. Dear Mrs O Sullivan
I would like to nominate Mrs Evans for Take The Cake because at home after piano practice I couldn’t remember how to play a scale. When we got to school we thought we could ask a piano expert to see if she could help me! We went to ask her in Room 16. Even though she was busy with her class she took me to the piano in the hall. She tried to work it out with me even though she had forgotten exactly how to do it. The next morning when she was walking to the staff room she gave me a sheet of paper that she had printed out for me which had scales on it. She also went to the photocopier to get another sheet of paper for me that had scales on it as well. Piano, Keyboard, Piano
The day after that she took me to her classroom and gave me some sheets of paper which also had scales on which she had photocopied from a book! While I was in her classroom she wrote for me which hand it was and what scale it was!
I couldn’t believe that she had done all this for me!
That’s why I would like to nominate Mrs Evans for Take the Cake!

Fox Glacier Camp!

This week Mamaku 2 went on school camp to Fox Glacier. We had a terrific time!

My favourite highlights:

On our way to camp at Fox Glacier we went to Lake Mapourika. We jumped off the jetty. We had to wear swimming caps so that the parent looking after us could see us easily. It was pretty cold but really fun. One time when I dived off it felt like I touched the bottom.

On our way to camp at Fox Glacier we stopped at Franz Josef Glacier to see the kiwis at the Kiwi house. The lady told us a bit of information about the kiwis. We got given a little word find and crossword and also a little information booklet about the Wildlife Centre. The types of kiwi they had at the centre were Rowi and Tokoeka. I saw two and I thought I heard one more but there was only two kiwis at the Wildlife Centre.

The first night we went on a walk to see the glow worms. Some of us were scaring some of the others. Miss Panther scared Kaine so much that he screamed like a girl. The glow worms were so cool. The glow worms were like torch lights. You had to be careful because it was night time and there were creeks below the path.

The second day we went Geo Caching. We had to find 6 or 7 little containers that were hidden in different places. We typed a code in Google Maps and it said what road it was on and when you were getting closer.

Later that day we went to the school pool which was next door neighbours with the motor camp that we were staying at. We were all doing bombs off the side into the water and some of us were also diving off the side. It was so much fun.

The same day we went to see the Glacier. We had to cross rivers and walk up a humongous hill. It was a really cool experience because it was so close. When we came down to the flat part some of the parents and some of us went to the river and had a competition on who could keep their hand in the freezing cold water for the longest. Four of us who were the winners had to take out our hands because we had to carry on with the walk.

On the way home we stopped at the Tree-Top Walkway in Hokitika. It was my third time going there but I haven’t been for ages. It was a bit frightening when you were up the top of the tower. When you were up the tower and even on the walkway it was swaying. We had a map and guide to tell us the proper way. When you opened it up fully it had a bit of information about what you could see.
