Novel Study

This week we have been doing Novel Study as a part of reading. Over this week and next week we have to complete 10 out of 10 set-activities. Two of the activities we have to do was to design the setting of your book, and create a word find or cross-word. The book I have been reading and studying is 'Lion - A Long Way Home' by Saroo Brierley.

Term 2 Week 9 Maths Work Book

This week for maths we have been looking at word problems. Last week I was stuck on a couple of questions and doing similar ones again this week has made it much easier. Today we also had a worksheet on graphs and dot plots. I really enjoyed this as probability and graphing is one of my favourite subjects in maths.

Add Sub Mult Div - Workbook

This week for our workbook we were looking at 'Add Sub Mult & Div' word problems. There were a range of about 27 problems that were either addition/subtraction, multiplication/division or fractions of amounts. I found these quite interesting as I like doing word problems.

Taku Akomanga (My Classroom)

This week for topic (Te Reo Maori) we have been looking at Taku Akomanga (My Classroom). There was a list of Maori words down the sides and we had to copy and paste the English translation beside them from the word bank. I knew the majority of them however a couple my classmates gave me some assistance. I find it quite interesting that everything you use to write with starts with pene!

Scaffold for an exposition (argument/opinion)

This week we have been looking at writing an exposition (also known as a argument or opinion writing). To start with we had to write out the scaffold to help us out when writing our argument.

See Ya Simon Character Introductions

For our class novel we have been reading See Ya Simon by David Hill. We used FaceYourManga or Avatar Maker to create an avatar of what we thought 3 of the characters looked like. I chose to use FaceYourManga and the characters I chose were 'Fiona the Moaner', Nathan and Brady West. We had to include their name, their relationship to others, their physical characteristics, who they are close to, their interests and if we found out anything interesting about this character.

Interpreting Timetables Pt 2

This week we were given another 'Interpreting Timetables' workbook so we could all thoroughly understand the concept.

Myth Writing

For writing we have been focusing on writing myths/legends. We started with choosing a natural phenomenon to write about. I chose the Southern Lights.

Hanmer Springs Brochure

For our school camp 2 weeks ago, we went to Hanmer Springs. When we got back we had to create a brochure of things to do in Hanmer Springs for visitors (even if we didn't do these on camp). We had to include at LEAST 5 activities.
