2017 Choir Trip To Christchurch
On the 26th of October the choir group went on a trip to Christchurch. While the Greymouth schools were in Christchurch, they got to do many fun things like go to Margaret Mahy playground, the mall and tenpin bowling at night.

On the Friday night the Greymouth schools got together to perform with over 850 other kids in Horncastle Arena, in Addington, Christchurch.

On one of around 10 songs the massed choir performed the conductor made up effects that the children had to do to make it sound like rain, the breeze and thunder.

The songs originated from many different countries and were in many different styles of music.

Every school that was performing had to wear their school’s correct uniform.

Schools that came were from all around Christchurch from places like Cheviot, Hanmer Springs, and lots of other schools from in and around Christchurch City as well as around 5 Greymouth schools.

Shantytown Reflection

On Thursday M2 and M1's year 6's went to Shantytown Heritage Park to learn about law and order. When we arrived in Shantytown, Miss Barber was telling us about the rules and expectations. Then we walked to the church, put our bags down under the trees and went in sat in the pews.  Miss Barber and Mrs Meyers then told us a bit about the behaviour punishments in the 1800’s. Then we went to get changed into olden day outfits. After that we split into boys and girls and the boys went to the holographic theatre while the girls had their morning tea and had a little explore around the old town. Then after about 10 minutes we switched around. In the holographic theatre we watched a clip called 'Dead Men Tell No Tales'. During the clip we all got sprayed with water. Then we went on a steam train ride. While we were on the steam train the driver said that he had been given a bag of gold. When we got back from the ride a man with a gun came and stole our gold and Miss Barber's fobwatch. He then told us to go back into the church where we started describing him to tell the constable so that he could find him. A couple of us went with Miss Barber to go and find the constable. We then split up into groups to go and track down the thief. We found him in the saloon drinking! The constable then decided that it was him and took him to the jail.
Then it was lunchtime where we had lunch and had another wander around. After lunch we did a role play about law and order where Jane Symonds got questioned about stealing Owen Wright's fobwatch. In the end we found out that Jane Symonds was actually innocent and that Owen Wright was just a drunk.

We had an excellent day out there with role plays, learning about the past and dressing up!!!!!!!!!

W4 Reflection T4

This week for numeracy we had to finish all the activities in the Angles slide. Then we had to find angles on a stick man. After we had completed those tasks we got to create our own stick man and find the angles.

For literacy this week we have carried on with our topic 'Fossils & Archaeology'. We had to do x2 word work tasks, a fossil sequence, a digital dig, a making connections task, a report plan and also a report. Here are my tasks from this week.

Making Connections

On Thursday, Madeline came and taught us about a new website that she found called Animaker. We got taught how to make a video about something that we have recently done or something that interests us. I did mine about the school athletics day.

Week 10 Reflection

This week has been a bit of a topsy-turvy week because we got hardly any literacy time. For writing we had to watch the skill video that we made last week and write down some notes ready for us to write our explanation later on. Here is my explanation.

This week for numeracy we worked on position and orientation. We had to do at least 3 of the 6 activies and create them in a cool way like stop-motion, screencastify, animoto etc. We then had to choose one of our activities to do an interactive DLO on. I chose the activity 'Around the World'.  Here is my interactive DLO, and two other position and orientation activities.

Week 5 Reflection T3 2017

This week for writing we are learning about the whitebait life cycle and also a salmons life cycle.
We had to use videonot.es to write down about a salmons life cycle. Then we had to write notes in a plan about a whitebait life cycle as well as creating a diagram. We also had to have one piece of free write to publish. I chose to do my writing on Endangered Species.

For Word Work we had to found out about 5 terms that relates to a whitebait life cycle. For this we used a TIP chart which means 'Term, Information and Picture'.

Link to TIP Chart

For reading we had to do a pre-reading activity about endangered animals. There were statements that you had to agree or disagree with. Then at the bottom there was a box where we could write down what we already knew about NZ endangered animals.

For Maths this week we had to complete a problem solving slide the teacher had set for us. There was a couple of trial and error activities where you try and solve the answer. If you couldn't get it you could just have a really good try at it. We also had to learn the strategies that we got wrong in our diagnostics test and create a DLO about each of them.

Week 4 Term 3 Reflection 2017

For numeracy this week, because it is maths week we had a hub westamaths competition on Thursday.
We were in chosen teams for this activity and my team came 1st so we each got a chocolate bar. In my team was me, Callum, Lilly, Adi and Jemma.

For PrEP we had to start and finish our PrEP profile and letter. We had to write a letter to apply for a job in PrEP and our profile was about us. Here is my profile.

For reading we had to write down three keywords about whitebait and then find information out about that topic. My keywords were Life Cycle, Habitat and also Food. Here is the information that I found out about my keywords.

For writing we had to get in pairs on work on our own and watch a video of Damian McKenzie kick the ball over the post. We had to write a piece of writing from two chosen perspectives. My buddy was Katelin. Our perspectives that we wrote from was a Crusaders fan and also a Chiefs fan. Here is our writing.
