Week 4 Reflection

Numeracy - WALT: create a slideshow sharing the steps of how to solve a decimal problem. I learnt how to explain the steps in a slideshow.

Writing - WALT: create a newspaper article from a certain part in the book 'Charlotte's Web'. I learnt how to retell the parts in the story into a newspaper article.

The amazing spider ‘Charlotte’.

At Zuckerman’s barn just out of Rutherglen early this morning when Lurvy the farm hand was giving the pig his food he spotted words in an amazing spider's web saying ‘Some pig’. It was above Wilbur’s pig pen in the doorway.
When he had noticed he had quickly went to tell the farm owner , Mr Homer Zuckerman. Zuckerman had rushed straight down to see with his wife. They also thought it was amazing. The pig and his friend certainly were amazing.
“We certainly agree that Wilbur and his friend are certainly amazing” agreed Lurvy. “I reckon the spider did it to distract the Zuckermans and Lurvy so they think she, Charlotte, is amazing and they will decide to not kill her friend Wilbur” said the neighbour. The Zuckerman’s said “We really think that the pig and his friend are very amazing”.
Open day
Mr Zuckerman is going to have an opening day to celebrate what the spider has done and you can also see the words in the web. Come on Sunday 29th May 2016. All welcome. Please bring your own picnic of food if you are going to stay long enough. See you there.

Writing - I have learnt where different punctuation marks can be used. I think I know where most of the punctuation marks can be used.

Trapped - I found the activities on this website a bit tricky. Here is a screencastify of my playing the game 'Trapped'.

Reading - I have learnt how to change a word into another word with the same meaning. I am getting better at it but it is still a bit tricky.

Buddy Work - This week 2 Syndicate 1 classes came into Mamaku. We buddied up and created a slideshow all about them. Here is me and my buddy's slideshow.

Week 3 Reflection

Literacy - WALT: write a small part of the story. In this writing describe you favourite/least favourite character
I learnt how to describe a scene that my favourite character is in.

Wilbur had tears dripping down his chubby cheeks because the next day he was going to have to go to Fern’s Uncle and Auntie’s family barn. He wouldn’t get the usual morning visits but he hoped he would still get some visits sometimes though. When he got to the barn he was still sad but he was a little happy because he saw that he had a manure pile to live in. Wilbur yawned. He was cuddled up in the manure pile with tears running down his cheeks. He was going to miss Fern a lot though but he might make some friends because there were lots of animals in the barn. He heard talking so he looked back and saw that the animals were talking together. Wilbur just lay there and thought of Fern.

Numeracy - WALT: Solve a decimal problems using our knowledge of place value in numbers that involve tenths, hundredths, and thousands. Create a screencastify to show your working-outs. I learnt how to solve a decimal problem with knowledge and using videos to help.

Banqer - Here is a photo of my account on Banqer.

Week 2 Reflection

Topic - I learnt why the poem 'In Flanders Field' was written. Did you know that the word ANZAC was created in 1914.

Literacy - My Goal: To use high-level punctuation. Use high I learnt that spiders can have up to twelve eyes.

Food

Spiders like to eat flies because they suck the blood out of them. They eat lot’s of other insects and bugs. When the flies are captured in the web the spider wraps it up in silk and eats them. One example is the Daddy Long Legs because they eat other spiders that live in your house.

Appearance

Spiders can be colourful like the White tail and the Red back. Most spiders have eight eyes but some have twelve or even none! Some spiders have eight hairy legs spider that help them climb. They are part of the arachnid family not part of the insect family because they have 2 body segments.

Predators/Prey

Spiders predators and prey are wasps, bugs, birds and even other spiders. They find lots of things to eat because they get stuck in their web. Their predators are birds, frogs, toads, lizards, centipedes and wasps. The spider's prey get the spiders back by being their predators.

Habitat

Spiders can live anywhere except Antarctica. They are so small that they can move almost everywhere and then spin their web. Some live in the ground, that’s why you sometimes see little holes in your background. There are so many species of spiders you would think there would be hardly any spaces for spiders to live.

Numeracy - I learnt how to transform 24 hour time into 12 hour time.

My Spider - I created a spider using balloons and card. It was an activity that we were doing for 'Chapter Chat'
