Art Reflection W8 T2

On Monday for about three hours we went up to Mrs Clark's room and did some pastelling around Robert Delauney's disk art.

First we had to draw our design that we were then going to pastel.

Then we had to show Mrs Clark if it was ok to go and pastel.

Next we went and pastelled if it was ok to pastel.

When were done we took them to Mrs Clark so that she could sharpen the edges. Then she stuck them to a black piece of paper and also stuck our name on to it.

I was really happy how mine turned out!

Numeracy Reflection W8 T2

This week for numeracy we carried on creating DLO's about goals that we need to work on. Here is my DLO that I created this week.

Literacy Reflection W8 T2

This week for reading we got to choose a story that we wanted to read about in our groups. Our group chose a book called 'Katie's Mum'. Then we had to record the main parts using bullet points individually.

We also had to write a description about a chosen family member. We had to include things about their looks and also about their personality.

Laura
Have you got a favourite second cousin? I do. Her hair is short, silky and the colour of chocolate. She is medium height and has a long oval shaped face. Laura has lots of freckles (that she absolutely hates) which are mostly covered up because of all the makeup that she wears! She is very skinny and even though she looks like she has olive skin, it’s because of the spray-tans that she gets pretty regularly.

She loves hanging out with the family especially her favourite cousin (me) when we are over in Christchurch. Wherever we go if it’s the mall, Trampoline World, or to the movies she is probably going to be there with us.

Laura is definitely on the healthy side of things, like drinking water, but when it comes to treats and choosing a cook school activity, chocolate is always her first option.

One of her hobbies that she loves doing is running half-marathons. She does them in places like Wanaka & Queenstown. A whole lot of our other family members do the half-marathons too, so they have a little competition between each other.

All of her clothes that she has got in her cupboard are all over $200 each. She absolutely loves shopping especially for clothes. Some of her favourite brands are Ruby, Witchery and Country Road. She is so up to date with the latest fashion.

Something that she isn’t the best with is getting ready on time. She spends about an hour putting on makeup and probably half an hour putting on clothes. That’s why a lot of the family tell her, that we need to go an hour earlier than we actually do, so that she is all ready to go when we are.

Later this year she is moving down to Invercargill to live with her boyfriend. Luckily she can online shop because they don’t have her favourite shops down there.

Laura drives a little cream Mini Cooper and works as a nurse at Christchurch Hospital. The ward she works in is called ‘CHOC’ which is the child’s cancer ward. One of the reasons that she loves her job is because she gets to put happiness into their lives when she looks after them. She also has some really sad stories to tell about little kids losing their lives.

She is practically my Mum’s sister. One reason being that their Mums are sisters and their Dads are brothers. Another reason is that my family and Laura and her family are really close!

I am so lucky to have a cousin like Laura!

Numeracy Reflection W7 T2

This week we have looked at our maths goals that we have from our testing and we have to use websites that help us with our goals. Then we have to create a DLO so that the teachers know that we have completed and now know the strategy. Here is one of my DLOs that I have finished.

Matariki & Cyber Smart Reflection W7 T2

On Thursday Madeline came in and taught us about how important our blogs are. We had to go on to this website called 'Canva' and share our information that we found out.

For topic we are learning about Matariki. We had to listen to two videos and then write down the story in any type of presentation that we wanted.

Literacy Reflection W7 T2

This week and a bit of last week for writing we had to write a detailed description about Miss Reissmann. For reading we had to choose a book and read it as a group. Then we had to record the main parts as a group and then write a summary about it.

Here is my literacy work from this week.

Cross Country

This Monday we had our school cross country. On Tuesday when Mrs Costello taught us, she gave us the opportunity to write either a persuasive, recount, or a made-up story about 'Cross Country'. I chose to do a persuasive piece of writing.

Writing:
I think we should still have Cross Country because it keeps kids nice and fit, also healthy. It is good for people who may not do much exersise out of school.
Cross Country is also a great challenge for the Team B students especially, because if they get in the top six they get to go the West Coast round, and also some of them get the oppurtunity to go to the Canterbury round. One of the other reasons that it is challenging, is because it is quite a long way and sometimes you get quite exhausting. It it also great for Team A for when they are older so that they can get into the other rounds.
For the sportier kids, it is great practice for when they do other sports especially when you jump over different obstacles on the course.
Cross Country is a great idea for kids who don’t like the ordinary school subjects like reading, writing and maths because they get the oppurtunity of getting outside for a run.
If you don’t do cross country but you like doing things like, for example, tramping/hiking, it builds up your fitness for when you do those types of activities.

That’s why I think Cross Country is a great idea!

Robert Delaunay Art

This term we have been looking at the artist 'Robert Delaunay'. My class started with the art using collage, M1 started with painting and M3 started with pastel. We will all have a turn at all the different techniques.

First we had to draw a plan of what we might do so that we had an idea of what we will do when it came to do our art.

Secondly we had to grab a template and cut out different coloured and sized circles out of coloured card.

Thirdly the next day we finished cutting out our circles and also cut out some tissue paper circles so that we could put them over two circles and it would blend it.

Then we had to place and glue all the different smaller circles on to the biggest circle.

After we had done that we went and showed Mrs Prendergast and if she said it was good and we could move on to the next step she would pass us a choice of black or white card to stick our circle on to.

We would then grab another sheet of card (which would be different to the one you grabbed before) and stick it on to that. It made it have a really great effect because once you had stuck on the circles to the first piece of card Mrs Prendergast cut a circle around the edge.

Some of the effects of the different colours and patterns people used were amazing!

I thought that is was a great idea and I can't wait until I get to do the next technique!
