Self Respect

Last week in Whanau Time we learnt all about self respect and what self respect is. We had to then go back to our classes and present something about self respect to show in Whanau Time this week. In T3 we then talked a little bit more about respecting yourself.
Here are somethings that we learnt:
- Make sure that your clothes are nice and tidy and that you are well presentable
- Follow the Kawa of Care and don't eat or drink near your computer/carry your computer shut and with 2 hands or in a case
- Label your clothing
- Stand up to bullies
- Use your manners
- Manage yourself

In class we decided to present what we think of 'self respect' by doing a mannequin video.
We got into groups and worked on scenarios. When the camera wasn't on us doing our scenarios we had to be a 'mannequin'.
Here is a link to the video.

Week 3 Reflection

Topic
This week for topic we started with our topic for this term 'Garden To Table'. We had to define what makes a fruit a fruit and what makes a vegetable a vegetable.  We had to look up websites and finally make our decision on what a vegetable was and what a fruit was. Miss Power said to us if I layed out bunch of fruit and vegetables, how would you know what was which? That gave us something to go back and think about.

Argument Writing W1 T3 2018

Writing an exposition/argument
We have just started looking at argument writing, and what it includes/needs.
Here is some of the information that we have found out around arguments.

Scaffold
The scaffold part of the argument is what we call "skeleton", the bare bones of the writing. The meaning of this is the way that the writing is set up and what you include in each of the 3 main parts of the writing.

Cause and effect
Today we have been looking at the words that create cause and effect in our writing. Miss Power has created a word bank for us where on it is a few words that show how to create cause and effect in our writing.
Here is an example of cause and effect used in a sentence:
eg. The fish died as a result of pollution in the water.
