Summer Learning Journey

  1. Hi Rea
It does look a bit squished! I wouldn't like that either, because it would feel claustrophobic! I love kayaking, too, though so it would be lovely on a clear, calm day being out on the water. I would have to work on my arm strength, as well, as I am a bit weak in that department and might let the team down with my lack of co-ordination. It would be neat achieving something as a team, though!

  2. Kia ora Reagan,

I think you have done a great job explaining both sides of your answer. It's a tricky question isn't it? There are definitely some pro's and con's to being in a Waka Ama race. I think it would be fun to do Waka Ama, but only socially, instead of competitively. That way, you can still enjoy Waka Ama without the pressure of a race. I think it would be fun to learn how to row in time with my team mates. I think being part of a Waka Ama team would teach me good team work skills and I would become fitter and stronger!

I love to go kayaking too! Recently, I went kayaking in Lake Karapiro (in the North Island) with some friends. We kayaked across the calm lake in double kayaks to three different waterfalls before parking our kayaks on the shore and going for a swim. It was a peaceful experience and I can't wait to do it again!

What was your kayaking experience like?

    Keep up the great blogging!

    Noho ora mai,

    Emiely :)
