This week we have been busy finishing off our hydroponics system that we have set up at our school. We have it all ready to plant the strawberries on Monday. Here is a photo of what we have achieved so far.

For maths this week we have been focusing on probability. Today we did an activity where Miss Power put cubes (we didn't know the colours) into a bag. There were around 4-10 cubes in the bag each round. She pulled out cubes around 10 times. We had to record which ones came out. Then we had to guess how many of the different colours there were in the bag. Next we had to record an overall view of how many times they came out. For eg. Blue - 10/20 - 1/2 - 50%.

This year I have been selected to go to the annual Westamaths competition held in Hokitika. I am in a team with 3 other people. This week we have had a few practices preparing for the competition next Wednesday.

  1. Hi Reagan
Congratulations, Rea, on gaining 2nd place in the Year 7 Westamaths team in Hokitika! Good luck at Cantamaths next week! Keep practising hard and you will go great! And you will love the trip over.
I think it is fantastic that you have worked in a team to make the hydroponics system to grow strawberries. I am looking forward to going to see it up close and watching those strawberries thrive! They are my favourite fruit! If it does work, you will have to have a go at setting up one at home.
    Thanks for sharing
    Miss Lagan
