DAY 3 (A3) - The WWF: World Wildlife Fund

For this activity we had to choose a video to watch (tigers or seals) and then write down: the name of the animal the WWF is helping, what the WWF is doing to help and what success the WWF has had protecting the animal (if they have had any).

What wonderful work the WWF are doing! How terrible for the mother seals - to have to give birth to their pups in the open and know that the preadtors will be there soon to eat it! It is comforting to know that there are decent people out there who are dedicated to helping these pups. It is scary to think that climate change will neagtively affect these pups. I wish there could be a place for the pups to go where they can remain safe for years to come - maybe like at the Antarctic Centre in Christchurch. I know it's not their natural environment but at least they survive.

  2. Hi Reagan

The WWF are doing a fantastic job to help the survival of many species of animals around the world including the freshwater seals.
Isn't it amazing that something as simple as building snow banks can have such a dramatic effect on the survival rate of these seal pups. It is great to see that it is having such a positive impact on the survival rate of the pups.
I was in Kaikoura a couple of weeks ago and the number of seals when you stop on the coastline over there is incredible. It would be great to see these kind of numbers for the freshwater cousin of our seals.
It is great to see that there are so many people out there that care about all these animals.

Well done Reagan, another great presentation of your activity.

    Keep up the great work!

    Until next time

    Allie :)
