DAY 5 (A1) - Towering Timbers

For this activity we had to write down whether we think that logging should or should not be allowed in NZ.

You have some really good thoughts there about logging and I can see that you have really put some thought into it.
But I agree with you and I think that we should be able to cut down trees that have been grown especially for this purpose. I don't think they should cut down native trees unless the weather has brought them down. And that if any tree is removed from a forest then it should be replaced by a new one. If they replanted each time we would always have trees growing.
And this creates so many jobs for people that rely on logging for their families.
We also have a housing crisis in New Zealand so we need the timber to build more houses for people to live in.

    Great work Reagan

    Until next time

Great idea about if you cut a tree down you have to plant another one! I think this would be fantastic however some people might not follow this rule and not be found out! I know the loggers keep track of how many logs they have cut down as they need to know how many they send off to factories etc. They could then send the total to an organisation to organise the trees to be planted.
Thank you, again, for your wonderful comments!
