(W2) DAY 2 (A3) - Stranger than Fiction

For this activity we had to chose 2 flowers off this website and find 3 similarities and 3 differences between them.

I like how you have chosen the colours of the circles to match the colours of the White Baneberry plant. The baseball plant looks very unusual. I have never seen a plant shaped like this before. Probably because I have never been to South Africa! Duh! I wonder if you can eat the berries of the Baneberry plant or are they poisonous? I see that some of the plant is toxic, I wonder if it is the berries? The plant has no leaves so are the leaves in the picture part of another plant, maybe?

    1. Hi Mum,

The fruit of the white baneberry plant is actually poisonous!!!! The leaves in the background look like they are part of the baneberry plant but they actually aren't - they are part of another plant!!!!!

      Thanks,
      Reagan

  2. Kia ora Reagan,

Well done for following the instructions and posting the pictures to show us what the plants look like, great start! Those two are some very weird and interesting plants, aren't they? You've presented your work in a similar way to a Venn diagram and I actually think it's super helpful and easy to read so thank you for that. Your mum has a good eye, I also like that you have matched the colours of the circles to the plants!

It's interesting to know that the White Baneberry plant has no leaves but it has fruit, I find that quite odd. The name Baseball plant really suits that plant on the right! I actually went to South Africa for the past two summers but I never came across any baseball plants. Maybe it's because they're so rare and protected by the National Nature Conservation, as you have mentioned. Which of these two plants is your favourite? I really like the Baseball plant because I searched up more images and they're really amusing to look at!

    Keep up the hard work,
    Evelyn :)
