Pink Shirt Day

Last Friday our school celebrated Pink Shirt Day. Most students came to school wearing a pink t-shirt or pink accessories.
A group of us made pink iced gingerbread biscuits during the week to sell on the Friday for 50c or $1. The money was then donated to the Pink Shirt Day organisation (Mental Health).

Pink Shirt Day started because in a school overseas one boy was bullied for wearing a pink shirt on his first day of high school. Two of his classmates then went to the cheap shop to buy 50 pink shirts to hand out to other pupils to support this boy!

Did you school/workplace support this amazing cause?

This is a great cause to support and I so pleased that Grey Main School got behind this and encouraged us all to wear pink and stand up to bullying. I loved what you wore on the day. I am proud that you always go 100% when dressing up and focus on others rather than yourself. I am so pleased that we managed to raise nearly $400 to give to the Mental Health Foundation. It was an interesting story how Pink Short Day started. I love reading stories about how people have stood up for others when they are not being treated fairly. Imagine a world where all students in a school did this! Bliss!
