For this activity we had to write down whether or not we agreed with rule for over fishing. The rule is that if you over fish you get charged $100,000.
I must say, it's very interesting to see what you think and have to say about this rule. I personally think that $100,000 is way too much to pay. $100,000 is a lot of money and you could do so much and buy so many things with that amount of money!
I actually really like your idea and agree with you that people who overfish should be charged a fine for each fish that they catch over the limit. That way, it's much more fair to the people who may have only caught one extra fish compared to another person who may have fished the entire place clean! You have thought this through very well, Reagan. I think it's a genius idea!
I loved these types of activities throughout the SLJ - the ones where you had to choose what side of the debate you went on and why? I also think that there should be more fishery-officers around EVERYWHERE to stop people from over-fishing! Otherwise how are they going to control it? Do YOU have any other ideas on over-fishing?
